So you are at the point in your manufacturing journey where you are contacting manufacturers to produce your first collection. You may find that manufacturers aren't replying to your emails. Let's dive into possible reasons why clothing manufacturers aren't getting back to you.
Too Vague
Manufacturers receive countless inquiries from new brands daily. If your email is too vague, it is easy for the manufacturer to skip over it and look for an email with more details to it. If your email is too vague, they may not take your inquiry seriously, or feel like you don't actually know what you want. They could also feel like you are emailing the same email to multiple manufacturers so they do not want their time wasted. Make you know exactly what you want manufactured and make that known to the manufacturer.
Too Long
Sending an email that is too long can also be counter productive. If your email if coming across as a life story, the likelihood of a busy manufacturer pausing and reading it all is also very unlikely. It is a fine balance between your email being too vague and your email being too detail. Keep your email concise and straight to the point.
Can't meet their MOQ
Maybe you have mentioned how many units you are looking to order. If it doesn't come close to their MOQs, they may not bother replying to the inquiry. Manufacturers don't make a lot of money from small orders, but there are definitely ways around this in the way that you construct your emails.

No Potential
Business is business at the end of the day. If they don't see potential in repeat business from your brand, they may not bother replying. Most manufacturers are looking for brands they can work with long term. Make sure you are highlighting this in your email.
Too Rude
Some emails come across as rude. If you are not including pleasantries in your emails then I don't blame them for not responding. No manufacturer wants to work with a rude client.
Limited Capacity
This reason is completely outside of your control. Sometimes manufacturers have periods where they are working at capacity and they cannot accept any more brands. It may be that they a prioritising their larger existing brands and there is not much you can do about this.
With that all being said, if you don't receive a response, do not assume the worst. They could have just missed the email. Make sure you send another email to them 5 to 7 days after the initial email and keep it within the same thread.
